Full-Stack Developer
Build the future of how organizations make decisions together. We’re a small, focused team moving fast — and we’re looking for one more person who is genuinely excited to ship great software.
The Opportunity
Motion Meetings is a Canadian SaaS startup transforming how unions, associations, and member-based organizations run their meetings and votes. We build structured, transparent governance tools that actually work — live voting, parliamentary procedure, member engagement, and reporting all in one platform.
We’re looking for someone early in their development career who builds with AI tools the way a skilled tradesperson uses power tools — naturally, fluently, and because it makes the work better and faster. If your first instinct when facing a new problem is to open Copilot, Cursor, or Claude alongside your IDE, you’ll fit right in.
We’re hiring for curiosity and demonstrable capability. Show us what you’ve built.
What You’ll Do
- Ship full-stack features across our platform — frontend and backend — using AI tools as your primary accelerant
- Participate in rebuilding our product on a modern architecture
- Write tests, maintain documentation, support deployment pipelines — with care and consistency
- Bring new AI tools and techniques to the team and share what you’re learning
- Work directly with the CEO day-to-day and the Lead Developer as your technical mentor — no layers, real ownership
What We’re Looking For
- 0–3 years of professional full-stack development experience, or a portfolio of personal/academic projects that demonstrates equivalent capability
- Real, demonstrable AI coding tool experience — tell us what you use and how it changes the way you work
- Strong foundations in JavaScript/TypeScript, a frontend framework (React or Vue), and Node.js/Express
- A GitHub profile or portfolio with projects you’re proud of
- High attention to detail and strong follow-through — you write clean code and finish what you start
- Intellectual curiosity — you read, experiment, and genuinely enjoy figuring things out
- Comfort working within a defined process: sprint structure, coding standards, pull request reviews
Why Motion Meetings
- Ground floor — one of the first engineers on the team, with real influence on how we build
- AI-native culture — use AI tools aggressively, not ask for permission first
- Meaningful technical mentorship from a hands-on Lead Developer
- Stock options — share in the upside as the company grows
- Direct access to leadership — work shoulder-to-shoulder with the CEO from day one
- Meaningful mission — helping the organizations that represent working people govern themselves better
- Flexible remote — we care more about output and quality than hours logged
Program Eligibility Note
This position is supported by a government-funded employment program. To qualify, applicants must meet the program’s eligibility requirements, including recent-graduate status and being a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
How to Apply
Email your resume and answer these two questions (3–5 sentences each):
1) Tell us about an AI coding tool you use regularly — what is it, and how has it changed the way you approach development?
2) Share a project you’re proud of — what did you build, and what would you do differently now?
